Welcome to the website of the Bay Area Thunderbird Owner's Club (Khayan for short). We are the oldest Thunderbird Club in the world started in 1958 and caters to two-seater Ford Thunderbirds built between 1955-1957 and 2002-2005. We meet the Second Saturday of each Month at 10:00AM at the Buttercup Grill in Walnut Creek, 660 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, (925) 932-2763. We also have an event every month where we drive our cars to interesting locations around the San Francisco Bay Area which usually includes a brunch or lunch as part of the event. Mystery Train Ride is Full
All the seats for the Oakdale Mystery Train Event are gone. Event starts on June 19th at 10:30 AM at Jim and Maria Guthrie's house. Several stops are scheduled along the way including an auto museum tour, antique shopping and a quick visit with the local Model A club in Escalon. We'll also have time to visit the famous Valley Inn bar in downtown Escalon for those so inclined. Call Lisa Perry at (925) 785-8015 with any questions.

Our club will be attending the event together but we are all responsible for our own train tickets and overnight accommodations (if desired). Super Bowl Party was a Hit!
32 members attended the 5th annual Khayan Super Bowl Party for SUPER BOWL 50 where we watched the Denver Broncos trounce the Carolina Panthers 21 to 10. Based on the cheers and jeers the crowd appeared to favor the Panthers but to no avail. Members also enjoyed the scrumptious food served in excess including Maria Gutherie’s famous clam chowder. A lot of our two-seater birds were also driven to the event which always shows club spirit not to mention you get additional Khayan BUCKS!

Architecturally inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak, it houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in western North America -- including objects from pre dynastic times through Egypt's early Islamic era. The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum has many examples of cat images from ancient Egypt, in every material from bronze, through wood, and including mummies!

Last Sunday, the elected Khayan board members and a few others of met for the annual club board meeting at the home of president Dave Adams where the framework for the coming year's functions and activities were discussed. Among the hottest topics were the proposed bylaw revisions to officially include 2002-2005 ownership qualifying for full membership, which unofficially has been the practice for years anyway. A few other changes were proposed as well including elimination of the required car inspection before granting entry in the club, changes in what is included in the new membership packet given to new members and proposing the election for club officers next year be more formalized with written ballots.
