Welcome to the website of the Bay Area Thunderbird Owner's Club (Khayan for short). We are the oldest Thunderbird Club in the world started in 1958 and caters to two-seater Ford Thunderbirds built between 1955-1957 and 2002-2005. We meet the Second Saturday of each Month at 10:00AM at the Buttercup Grill in Walnut Creek, 660 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, (925) 932-2763. We also have an event every month where we drive our cars to interesting locations around the San Francisco Bay Area which usually includes a brunch or lunch as part of the event. Still Time to Catch the Train – (Open to Everyone)
Attention Non-Members: There is still time to book your reservations for the Oakdale Mystery Train Event. Event starts on March 19th at 5:00 pm. Price is $89 per person. Our club will be attending the event together but we are all responsible for our own train tickets and overnight accommodations (if desired). You purchase your tickets online at https://www.sierradinnertrain.com/experiences/murder-mystery and reserve your hotel room at one as near as possible in Oakdale. Super Bowl Party was a Hit!
32 members attended the 5th annual Khayan Super Bowl Party for SUPER BOWL 50 where we watched the Denver Broncos trounce the Carolina Panthers 21 to 10. Based on the cheers and jeers the crowd appeared to favor the Panthers but to no avail. Members also enjoyed the scrumptious food served in excess including Maria Gutherie’s famous clam chowder. A lot of our two-seater birds were also driven to the event which always shows club spirit not to mention you get additional Khayan BUCKS!

ry 30th, Khayan’s event was to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose where we spent the afternoon looking at one of the best collection of Egyptian artifacts in the country. Architecturally inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak, it houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in western North America -- including objects from pre dynastic times through Egypt's early Islamic era. The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum has many examples of cat images from ancient Egypt, in every material from bronze, through wood, and including mummies!
