Our members are from every sort of background and employment, but our common interest is or passion for two-seater Thunderbirds. To be a full member you must own at least one Thunderbird of the model year 1955-1957 and/or 2002-2005 (the years Ford built the two-seater birds). However, you don’t even need to own a car to become an associate member. We are first and foremost a social club and open to anyone with an interest in “two-seater birds”.

Breakfast Meeting at the Buttercup

Every month (except June and December) we have a breakfast meeting at Buttercup Grill in Walnut Creek, 660 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, (925) 932-2763. We discuss upcoming events, have raffle prizes and occasionally have a guest speaker on a topic relevant to our cars. We offer a warm and welcoming environment where people can have a great time and also find and share technical knowledge about our cars.
We also have a monthly event where we drive our cars to interesting locations around the San Francisco Bay Area which usually includes a brunch or lunch. Many are car oriented, but some are just interesting. In June and July, we have only an event. In June we have our Anniversary Party which is usually a club hosted picnic. At Christmas we enjoy a club dinner with gift exchange.

Anniversary Picnic Lafayette

Some of our recent events have included a trip to Fioli Gardens in Woodside, a drive to Sturgen’s Lumber Mill in Sonoma, Picnic and Train Ride in Niles, Drive-in movie event in Concord, Black Diamond Mine tour in Pittsburg, Houseboat excursion in Sausalito, The Ironstone Car Show in Murphys, and a Yosemite Overnighter to name a few.
Our club members are also proud of being the very first Thunderbird club in the world, with our first meeting in March of 1958. We still have some original charter members in our club including the club’s founder Skip Riggs.
On this site you will find everything you need to know about us from our history, through to reviews of recent events and details of upcoming events. All photographic content is produced by our members and committee and the majority of the vehicles shown are club member’s cars.Photo 9
